Lead Your Self Into The Future

On the 18 of February 2020, the whole of year 6(Donvale and kew). Had an amazing experience, on that day there was excitement, the sense of achievement, new relationships sparking and old ones strengthening. On this day we all faced some challenges and we all surpassed them. We are all leaders. And this day was called Lead Your Self Into The Future.

We were all put in groups with people we may not that much about, I was put into lime green.

The Plank challenge, the plank challenge’s rules where we had to have at least six people planking at won time and you had to have perfect technique and the last team standing won a prize. Group that I was in decided two have seven people planking at won time and three people ready interchange in.

The plank challenge was extremely hard because the longer you were planking the harder it got. As we got further into the challenge we had to use all the things we learnt in one day especially active listening. As we more teams were dropping out and the longer we were planking for we had to listen to each other although I found that we were starting to yell, but it was all okay we just kept trying our best and a team member. At the end we surpassed our challenges as a group and we won the challenge.

During that challenge I found that I work work well in a team and found out a couple of stuff about me as a person. In that challenge I had to put my team before myself, I also learnt that I can strengthen personal traits by doing a challenge. When people we calling to swap instead saying I just got swapped I did anyway, also when we were doing the plank challenge I strengthened several traits like teamwork when calling for a swap or interchanging, love of learning when we put what we learnt today and did(active listening). I’m really glad that learnt some new things about myself that know before.

What are your three strongest traits?

                               Polar Bears Adaptations

Seems so cute but believe this animal has the potential that kill anything.This animal is the largest land living predator on earth. This animal lives in -45 degrees. It is Ursus Maritimus. It is a Polar Bear.

Recently in library we have been learning about animal  Adaptations and we got to chose  creature and we had to do some research and find  some adaptations.

What is an animal adaptations?   

An animal adaptation is when an animal makes a change to the his body in order to survive, they make change to there body because of the animals environment. For example polar bears are moving closer to land because of climate change. But there are different types of adaptations like physiological, behavioural and structural. 

Classification Animal 

A polar bear lives in many countries like Greenland, Norway, Russia, 80% of Polar Bears live Canada. Polar bears have a 2-4 inch of fat. They have a couple of layers of fat. And they there main food is the Ringed Seal. Polar Bears actually don’t have white fur it’s just the sun light. A Polar Bears scientific name is Ursus Maritimus. Polar Bears also eat bird eggs and berries.

Environment 

Polar bears live in negative -45 degrees. They live in many countries though there main habitat is Canada and the Arctic. The sun never ever rises in six months of the Arctic winter. Polar bears love snowy cold weather. They also live in Greenland, Norway, Russia.

Polar Bears Adaptations 

One of a Polar Bears adaptation is that ,there neck is long and flexible this helps them to breathe when the in water. This a physiological adaptation.

Another adaptation is that polar bears are moving closer to land to find food, this because of climate change. This behavioural adaptation. 

One more is that they have webbed feet, this helps them to swim. This a structural adaptation.

                                       My Favourite Book Chat Book of 2019

 “Rayna” he shouted as she vanished. “Rayna come back, I’m here! You can change back, you can…”

But Rayna was gone, and Anders had never been more alone. This is a brief part of this 407 page book, from Ice Wolves.

My Favourite book chat book this year has been Ice Wolves written by Amie Kaufman. This book is in a series and the genre is fantasy. In this book Anders turns into his wolf and his twin sister Rayna turns into a dragon but if they are really related it’s impossible. Anders tried to get back to Rayna but first he had join the wolf academy, Ulfar academy. 

The reason why it’s my favourite book chat is because it is fast pace and it is really interesting. I really just want read the book no matter what, for example there is always something going on like when Anders sneaks into the boss Wolf. Also it is fantasy and it is a good topic for for example it can’t get much better than dragons vs wolves that shoot ice spikes.

I recommend this book for anyone who likes The Hobbit and anyone who likes Rangers Apprentice and fantasy.

What is your favourite book?

This image is of a Christmas cracker. A Christmas cracker is when you pair up after you. Christmas lunch and you pull against the cracker and if you pull harder enough you will get a prize. This is really special for me because it helps me show how lucky I am I don’t know how, but just does. And it is the last thing I do until I go and play with my brother and sister and my new toys. It also really special to me because everyone really enjoys and everyone has smile no matter if you got a prize or a not, every was happy. Also it really funny because you sometimes get a funny joke. 

Some holidays that my family celebrates are Christmas, Easter, New year’s eve.

My favourite holiday is Christmas because it is our longest holiday, it only goes for 1 day but you get spend so much time with your family, this may sound a bad but Christmas is also really fun because of all presents,  but it is also really important that you go to church, and pay your respects to god and Jesus. On Christmas my family I either goes to Canberra or we stay at home. Last year we went to Canberra. When we go to Canberra we see our big family. 

Why does my family celebrate Christmas? My family celebrates Christmas because we are catholic and we believe in god. 

What is Christmas?  Christmas is when we celebrate Jesus’s birthday, we celebrate by getting presents from Santa and we go to church then you have lunch with your family. You unwrap presents under a Christmas tree.

What is your favourite holiday?

 This week I went to camp with my class, we went toonallook it is near lake entrance also near Painesville.

The trip took was a 3 1/2 hours. When we got there we were hit by an army of misquotes. Our first activity was the photo rally, I went in a trio with my friends christian and Charlie. We got to great start but  then we had our first challenge. We walking around for ages then natural instincts started to kick in, so we decided to ask for some help and the guy said go to the gate were we entered from. So we started our long journey, we finally found it. Then we went back to get a new picture, then we were back on a role then we had a new challenge we were walking everywhere we checked everywhere for were it could be then we were told by the teachers it was the girls close line so went over to the close line though we were doubtful that we weren’t going to find it but we did we were so frustrated.  Next we learnt how to play king ball it was super fun though it was similar to four square. After that the instructors Josh, Jesse, Grace gave us an option to go swimming or to keep playing king ball I decided to keep playing king ball I kind of regret that decision to keep playing. Soon later we had dinner, Trish the chef made some of the most delicious burritos I have ever had. After dinner we played a game called the shoe game Josh said it was played in the olympics but I knew it was it was totally made up. After the shoe game it was time for bed in my cabin I had Jack, Christian, Charlie and my self. The next morning we had breakfast and after breakfast we split up into our activity groups I was in the Jazz’s jelly beans, then we went on a boat tour. After the boat tour we went to have some morning tea we had scones. They were the best. Then we split up into groups our again, my group was doing bike riding, bike riding was a bit of challenge for me because it was really hard going over these sandy parts in trail. After bike riding we had  kayaking was really fun.

kayaking was won of my highlights because it was really relaxing and we had such beautiful weather and the water was really refreshing. We also had use a couple of pla ‘s they were communication and collaboration my partner Holly and I had to make sure were we were in time with each other when we were paddling and we had to help each other. After kayaking we had free time we all played king ball when we were playing king ball we had to use collaboration because you had to work with your partner and make sure you know how is hitting the ball. My partner Christian and I both showed resilient when we got out, next time we did better and made sure we didn’t make the same mistake. After king ball we had pack up everything and we went to the camp site were we were going to sleep in a tent. When we got we found out who we were sleeping with I was sleeping with Max, Theodore, then we had learn how to set up the tent then we had to do it, this was a challenge for because I have never set up tent before and had my friends. After that we had dinner, for dinner we had burgers they were delicious. Then we played a game of guess who the Disney character is? This game took a while and to be fair I wasn’t very good at it. After that we went to for a walk, I walked with my friend Christian. Then we went to bed this was my first time sleeping in a tent, I was a bit scared but I knew if I got to sleep I would be fine. The next morning we had toasties, they were really hot and really cheeeeeeeessy. Then we packed up and we had to use some more collaboration because we were  disassembling the tent, then we packed up all our bags and put them in the trailer. Then Jazz’s Jelly Beans took a bus to the ferry. After that we went we took the ferry across to Raymond island. And we waited for the group to get there and got the bikes sorted for our bike ride,  once they arrived we split up into groups and went to our activities, we went bike riding and Kola spotting; we saw so many kolas and they were so cute. After bike riding we ate salad sandwiches.

Then we walked over to a pear to fish. I already knew how to fish but it was so fun and relaxing.

After fishing it was time to go back but this time we got to go back on on speed boat, luckily I got to go on the first trip so I got there before everyone else was and therefore I got to have a nice shower.

Then we had dinner for dinner we had lasagna. After that we went to bed. Tonight no one talked because we were all so tired, well at least I knew I was. 

The next we woke up super early to see this spectacular sunrise. I had never seen a sunrise before so this was so cool. After that we all went back to bed but I don’t think many of us got back to sleep. When it was time to wake we went go have some breakfast this morning we got to have some hash browns with scrambled eggs. Yummmmy! After breakfast it was time for the day Toona Challenge. First we went down to beach to do activity then some people from had run a hoopla hoop to were the bike riders were.  First there was the the slow race I wasn’t in that but I was in the fast race, I started of slow but then I caught up and I was coming second but then I fell over. After that we played dead fish I pretended that I was sleeping. After we found out who won the toona challenge, unfortunately the Jazz’s Jelly Beans didn’t win but that’s okay, after that we had lunch unfortunately I can’t remember what we had for lunch. After that it was time for the bus ride I slept for most of it. When I got my bags I found my Mum I was so happy.

Do you like camp?

This week in school we made an avatar as part of the blog challenge.

My hair is blonde because it is blonde in real life, my eyes are hazel because in real life my eyes are hazel. My background and t-shirt is blue because my favourite colour is blue. Something interesting about me is that love sport and I like running and maths.

    The Hard Road Ahead 

This term ( term 3) our integrated unit was The Hard Road Ahead. The hard road ahead is about the gold rush and the Eureka stockade. As part as this unit we went Sovereign Hill but we also had to try and rebuild a building with partner, my partner was Taylor and our building was the Eureka Hotel. We also got to use Spheros.

What did I learn about the gold rush?

I learnt a lot about the gold rush during this unit. I learnt why the people wanted  a true democracy. They wanted a true democracy because the fees were very expensive and the police wasn’t very fair because they were ex- convicts. 

I also learnt that James Scobie died on the 7 of October 1854. He died at the wrath of James Bentley and his gang ( James  Bentley is a gangster), James Bentley was mad at James Scobie  because he smashed a window out side his hotel the Eureka Hotel. The Eureka Hotel was soon destroyed on 12 of October. A group of miners railed outside the Eureka Hotel. They were angry 😡 that James Bentley

didn’t go to jail because of James Scobie’s death, soon later the Eureka Hotel was burned down and James Bentley was guilty. On the 3rd of December there was short battle between the diggers and Troopers but the diggers were out gunned the battle ended in 15 mins. The troopers may of won the battle gut not the war. After that battle you now no longer have to pay for gold licenses. Yay!

I also learnt that life on the gold fields were very hard because there were no toilets so they dug a whole and there business there, then if were to rain all the germs would get washed into the river were everyone got there water from. It was harder for children to fight the diseases because there wasn’t any medicine families didn’t have the right food unless they were wealthy. Lots of children died from diseases and illnesses.  My building that I chose to research on with my partner Taylor was the Eureka Hotel.

What else did you learn and apply during this unit?

While doing this unit I also got to learn a lot of new things not related to the gold rush. Learnt how to code a Sphero. It was really fun testing it then a justing the code to make it better. We also did these literacy rotations to help with comparing and contrasting to help soon later with our newspaper and talking about newspapers we got learn how write and the layout of a newspaper.

The newspaper was really enjoyable and fun because we got chose what happened. 

Describe your use of the PLAs in working with your partner to create your diorama:

Some PLA’s that I showed are resilience, my partner and I showed this when testing the and if it didn’t work we wouldn’t give, we would try it again. Another PLA I showed was collaboration I showed this literally or all the time like when we were discussing what building we would wanted and when we were making the building if we didn’t use collaboration our building would of gone terribly wrong. I also used communication, I showed this when I was discussing  with my partner what we wanted our building to look like.
